Ever since studying sculpture in the United States, Kubo has been interested in the artistic traditions of non-monotheistic cultures. Referencing prehistoric art, folk art, and theories from the field of cultural anthropology, she explores themes related to agriculture and idols, creating works from everyday materials. The motifs for her outdoor installations, which have been exhibited throughout the country in locations such as Rokko and Setouchi, consist of fragmented body parts such as hands and feet. The motifs pay homage to the specific labor and manufacturing traditions of the regions where they are exhibited and represent the coexistence and interrelation of people and nature since ancient times. By using mass-produced industrial materials such as steel, blue tarps, and windbreak nets, which are widely available and cost effective, Kubo creates large-scale works with a light, pleasing air. For the exhibition, she has created a new installation in the waters of Kansui Park.
