Furukawa Haruo

Iwase AreaBetween the early 1980s and late 1990s, Furukawa explored color and form, alluding to the essential format of modernist painting. During this period, he investigated the core elements of modernist representation: color and form, image and material, two-dimensional illusion and three-dimensional space. Following a hiatus, he resumed his artistic endeavors in 2005. In these later works, Furukawa attempts to explore the potential of three-dimensional objects in a more organic way, integrating elements such as environment, space, and time into his practice of formalism. He continues to experiment, investigating the physical appeal of objects in landscape-based installations and seeking to create works with broader physicality that engage with time and space.
